“This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the area. The food and the atmosphere are fantastic and the service is great. They also make a homemade limoncello that is a perfect ending to a perfect meal. “Earth, air, fire, water- it's all at Soffritto Italian Grill. The restaurant scores big points for the stone hearth and fireplace and towering waterfall alone. But all the beef, veal, chicken and seafood classics are offered, as well as fun pastas such as ravioli in pesto. "I just wanted to drop another note about the outstanding dinners my husband and I have had recently. Last evening was our third visit to your restaurant and it was just as perfect as the first two. Enkhzaya was our server the last two visits and did an EXCELLENT job! She was very attentive and frequently checked back on the quality of our food and to see if we needed anything. The restaurant is very clean and the atmosphere is wonderful. And the food...I can't say enough about the delicious food. We have had perfect meals at all of our visits and the desserts at the end were just spectacular. We are so glad we found your restaurant and plan on returning often when we have opportunities to dine out. I have recommended your restaurant to several friends. “I LOVE your food and I LOVE your olive oil ! I come in just to buy the extra virgin olive oil for my home cooking! It is the best olive oil I have ever had. Honestly! I use it in my salads with a big squeeze of fresh lemon juice and it is so refreshing. I would expect to pay a lot more for such an excellent Extra Virgin Olive Oil. It is so light and delicate and I actually can taste the olives. I treat myself to bread with some oil at home and use it in ALL my cooking. (My food isn't as luscious as Soffritto's though!) “Last evening , my husband and I enjoyed a wonderful meal at your restaurant. My husband had the veal special and he said it was out of this world. I decided to go with my favorite Linguini with a white clam sauce. I asked our server, Laura, if she could ask the chef to make mine spicy with some extra garlic or red pepper. I forgot to tell her red pepper flakes and not red pepper strips of the vegetable, but she must have understood me. My dish arrived just the way I wanted. The chef did a great job. He or she made this dish sparkle. It made my tongue tingle and I ate every bit and even used some bread to sop up the last of the juice. Usually when I eat out I eat half of my food and bring the rest home but last night I ate the whole thing. It was that good. You have a wonderful wait staff and a fantastic chef. “Delaware has few Italian restaurants that I would define as being outstanding. Recently, on Kirkwood Highway, not far from University of Delaware Campus, a new Italian restaurant called Soffritto opened, and it is by far the best Italian food I have had in this area. The atmosphere includes dim lighting, private booths, a fireplace in the wall, and a small bar area. Their appetizers are out of this world - especially their broccoli rabi dish, and their spinach and artichoke appetizer. They utilize only the finest cooking ingredients and the food is beautifully presented. They are always more than accommodating if you want specialty salads ordered, or have special requests, and my husband and I are just thoroughly impressed with the food, the portions, the presentations, the service, and the atmosphere. It is an environment that is both couple and family-friendly, and the prices are slightly higher, but the food quality is also far superior!” ~cjaneb877

“I had the pleasure of visiting the restaurant last Sunday. The only thing that I can say is that it was a unique experience. Since I moved to Delaware, I have not been able to find a place with such exquisite characteristics, the people are very nice and the food was awesome. It is a beautiful and fine place. “I dined here for the first time tonight, the food was outstanding! I had the Vitello Andrea Boccelli—huge portions, great flavor, the brandy sauce was great, and the veal was perfectly tender. I finished with the lemonberry jazz—it was one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. “I visited your restaurant yesterday for the first time. Truthfully, I had no plan of doing so, but it started to snow and I was already near my home. There is a spectacular, pleasantly surprising yet subtle ambience to the entire establishment. David, my server, was as attentive to this solo guest as to any of the families or couples seated around my booth. His professional service was completely genuine and sincere; his courtesy a finding that was of itself a rare gem in today's dining establishments. Please, take his talents a step further and appoint him as maitre d' hotel/major-domo! On top of all of this, the Gnocchi Piemontese was truly vintage European without 'wanna-be' pretense; and finally, this is the only place outside of New York that I have found that knows how to brew and capture the essence of a great double espresso! The food was excellent and the portions were very generous. The staff was discreet and courteous. My husband and I especially appreciated the time taken by the management to not only visit with the guests, but to use a 'hands on' approach assisting staff and customers in such a positive way. “My girlfriend and I ate at Soffritto for the second time Friday night. I ordered the Linguine Pescatore and she, the Crab and Shrimp Ravioli. Both of our meals were excellent, although I believe mine was much better! It was a SEAFOOD LOVER'S DREAM COME TRUE...clams, mussels, scallops and shrimp!!!
